Official – Mertesacker To Exit Arsenal In January

Arsene Wenger defied his own norm this season and bolstered every aspect of the team last summer. This has left Arsenal Captain Per Mertesacker unsure of his future with us.

Mertesacker is currently injured and is out of contract at the end of the season, and so far, he has not gotten an offer of an extension from Arsenal.

His future for us is now in doubt. Reports are now in the claim that the Captain of Werder Bremen Clemens Fritz has indulged the BFG to join him in the Bundesliga.

The world cup winner would be welcomed by Werder Bremen with open arms it seems, as captain Fritz told Bild: “It would be a good thing for the club, we’ve talked about it [a return to Bremen].”

Earlier in the month Mertesacker admitted to German magazine Kicker that he’d consider a January move away from the Emirates.

“My contract with Arsenal expires next year, and I would like it to change something,” he told Kicker.

“Of course, I wonder what would make sense for me, if it should not go on with Arsenal.

“Where can I be helpful then? What do I want? Could you possibly go back to Germany again?

“I imagine, what prospects can open up for me and the family, also in Germany. And I think that from January these thoughts are very intensified.”
