Arsenal have been reveling in the ambiance of defensive solidity this term – the team has conceded only two goals in our last four league matches.
The defensive solidity exhibited by Mustafi and Koscielny at the heart of Arsenal’s defense has left not space for the other Arsenal centre backs.
Therefore, Arsenal Captain Per Mertesacker has admitted that he will consider his options soon, in a bid to play regularly.
The German picked up an injury before the start of the season and Mustafi has clearly taken his position. He has to make a choice as to his career with Arsenal.
He told Jack Austin of The Indepedent:
“I am a person who likes to create options for himself. Of course, I ask myself what would make sense if things were to end at Arsenal. Where can I be of any help? What do I want? Could I maybe return to Germany? I look at the perspectives for me and my family, and I think that I’ll intensify those thoughts from January on. That’s also the time when you can listen to other things when your contract is expiring.”
The transfer market will be re-opened in January and various reports are in the claim that German club Hannover would be interested in signing the 32-year-old.
At the moment, Hannover are in the 2. Bundesliga, the second division of German football, although they are tipped to gain promotion.
