The last summer transfer window saw Arsenal linked to virtually all the available strikers but Lucas Perez was the striker destined to become a Gunner.
We were also linked with a move for Argentina international Mauro Icardi, who also laces his boots for Inter Milan. Earlier this week, the Sun reported that Arsenal would move for the player after he was tongue-lashed by his own fans, however, his agent Wanda Nara has dismissed the possibility of the player joining us.
His transfer saga dragged all summer but we knew it was a plot by his agent to get him a better deal, which he already has.
But no sooner had the Inter Milan ultras unfurled their banner, the Sun reporters claiming an imminent Arsenal move for him again..
Wanda Nara, the player’s wife and agent replied “Absolutely not” when asked if her husband could leave the Italian giants. She added, “He has just renewed his contract for five years, which includes a termination clause of €110m for foreign teams.
“There have been offers from other clubs, but Inter conducted themselves in an incredible way with Mauro. He has always worked hard to stay at the club.”
€110m tells you all you need to know about the likelihood of Icardi ever ending up at Arsenal.
