Arséne Wenger confirmed the arrival of Lucas Perez to the club, after the win at Watford, subject to finalisation of paperwork and this news [plus that of Shkodran Mustafi] soothed the Gunners fans.
Lucas, as he prefers to be called, ha reportedly completed his medical in London and the official announcement and unveiling is expected later today.
Arsenal paid Deportivo La Coruna £17m for the Spaniard, who turns 28 in September, and Lucas is expected to come into the team to provide enough options for the Gunners’ boss Arséne Wenger regarding the attack.
Perez was spotted at London’s Heathrow airport on Monday evening ahead of the move. According to Express, Arsenal had turned him down earlier this summer as he was deemed not good enough for the team, but Wenger went back for Perez after missing out on Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal have amassed four points from three games so far this season, having lost their first game to Liverpool and drawn their second one against Leicester. However, the Gunners were up and running against Watford as they capped a dominant display to defeat the Hornets at Vicarage Road.
The Gunners will now be hoping to continue that run when Claude Puel takes his Southampton side to the Emirates on September 10 after the international break.
