Media reports coming from England suggest that Manchester United are set to hijack Arsenal’s move for Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
This information follows reports that the Gunners recently sent scouts to watch the Napoli defender in action in the Italian Serie A.
According to ESPN’s Craig Burley, he said the Napoli star should forget about joining Arsenal because EPL rivals are also searching for a top defender.
Burley says Arsene Wenger needs to bolster his backline, but said Arsenal’s rivals such as Liverpool, (Manchester) United and Manchester City are also in the hunt for top defensive talent.
“No (I can’t see him moving to Arsenal),” Burley told ESPN FC.
“I could see it maybe to England. (They are) Top of the league at the moment by a point over Juventus after their narrow in, as you said he’s playing well, big and strong.
“Arsenal are out of the top four, not in the Champions League as we speak. They’re one of the struggling top teams in England.
“There are better teams I think he can go to and most of them are looking for centre halves.
“If you look at England, Man United are looking for a centre half probably, Man City are looking for centre halves, Liverpool are looking for centre halves.
“So there are other teams in England I think would be ahead of Arsenal in the queue.”
