Beginning the last summer transfer market, Arsenal were linked to virtually all the available player in Europe including Colombian international and Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez…
Rodriguez has now ended speculations over his future, refuting reports that he would join Arsenal.
The midfielder scored twice in the convincing win over in the Copa del Rey as he rediscovered his scoring touch with a superb strike in front of the Bernabeu before slotting home a penalty.
Rodriguez has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier in recent weeks with reports suggesting both teams were ready to go to battle over the Colombian star.
The 25-year-old has started just seven games in all competitions this season finding game time hard to come by under Zinedine Zidane, but has now moved to end rumours about a possible move away.
‘Real Madrid is the club I dreamed about,’ Rodriguez said after the match.
‘And here I am living that dream.
‘I’m where I always wanted to be.
‘The Bernabeu chanting my name tonight was like a dream.’
The announcement will come as a blow to Arsenal, Chelsea and United who were reportedly eager to snap up the unhappy midfielder.
Rodriguez was expected to demand upwards of £50 million, but is now set to remain at Real.
