Arsenal have already broken their transfer record this summer by landing Alexandre Lacazette in a deal from Lyon worth a reported £43m but Arsene Wenger could break that record again in the coming weeks.
The Mirror states the French boss is not prepared to give up on his pursuit of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar and will return with a third bid worth £45m for the French international, having already seen offers of £30m and £40m rejected by the Ligue 1 champions.
Wenger is reportedly convinced that Lemar wants to join Arsenal this summer and is ready to put his money where his mouth is once again, as he seeks to improve upon last season in a campaign where the Gunners missed out on Champions League football for the first-time in his tenure.
Lemar is Arsenal’s top-priority to strengthen their wide options, whilst Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez is an alternative, but the Gunners seem to be prepared to wait to get their man as they jetted off for their pre-season tour yesterday.
However, Monaco are determined not to sell, having already lost Bernardo Silva to Manchester City, and Arsenal may find it difficult to agree a fee with the French champions.
