For a long time, the just concluded summer transfer window for Arsenal turned out to be the most exciting as Wenger divorced his frugal nature and spent heavily on some extablished players.
However, we also saw some players left the club on loan. Arsene Wenger has revealed that Calum Chambers, currently on loan to Middlesborough, is still in his plan for the future.
Chambers, 22, joined Arsenal from Southampton in a £16million deal but struggled to established himself in any of the positions that he was made to play. The loan deal for him appear to be the best for his career.
Chambers put up a dismal performance in Arsenal’s Premier League opener and fell further down the selection perking order of Wenger. New boy Rod Holding was chosen over him.
But despite sending him away from the club for the campaign, Wenger is confident the 21-year-old defender will eventually prove good value for the big money it took to sign him from St Mary’s.
“He has gone to Middlesbrough for the season and it is vital for him to play. I personally think he will be a great centre back.” Arsene Wenger explained.
