Papastathopoulos has made 155 appearances for Dortmund since joining the Bundesliga giants back in 2013 but the 29-year-old is being heavily linked with a Premier League switch ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Goal suggest the Greece centre-back has grown frustrated at the Westfalenstadion which has put Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger on alert this summer.
Neither side has made an official move for Papastathopoulos but it’s understood both London clubs will be scouring the market for defensive reinforcements in the coming months.
‘When you are young you have time to get things, but I am not anymore and I want to win titles,’ Papastathopoulos recently told Funke Mediengruppe.
Dortmund, however, are determined to keep hold of the former Werder Bremen man so it may take a sizeable bid to prise the Greece international away from their grips.
Papastathopoulos is tied into a contract at Dortmund until the summer of 2019.
