Mathieu Debuchy is reportedly set to complete his move to Marseille by Thursday night.
Finally, it looks as if someone is willing to sign Debuchy after what feels like years of the injury-prone right-back skulking around London Colney.
According to host of the Football Hipsters’ Podcast, Kris Carpenter, Marseille are set to complete their move for the 32-year-old tonight (Thursday).
Although Carpenter claims the transfer fee will be between £500k to £1m, L’Equipe [via talkSPORT] claim that the Ligue 1 side are convinced they can get the Frenchman for free.
The former Newcastle defender, who Arsenal signed for £12m in 2014, has two years left on his deal but considering he’s been demoted to the u23 side, it’s likely that the Gunners will allow him to leave for at the very least a cut price.
Debuchy has featured just 23 times for Arsenal’s first team since moving from the Magpies three years ago.
He joined Bordeaux on loan from February 2016 until the end of the 2015/16 season but only appeared nine times in Ligue 1 after tearing a muscle and then injuring his hamstring.
