Official: Arsenal Agree Deal In Principle With Valencia For Mustafi – Player Lands In London For Medical

The transfer window of this summer has become the most torturous for the fans of Arsenal in recent times, and the only remedy to this plight would be the signing of Arsenal’s long-term targets.

News emerged yesterday that Germany international Shkodran Mustafi had agreed personal terms with Arsenal. However, same reports claimed the completion of the transfer was subject to an agreement of the player’s transfer fee between Arsenal and Valencia.

There seem to be breakthrough in the deal, with reports according to Daily Mail claiming the player will undergo medical before long.

The 24-year-old tough tackler has agreed a five-year contract that is worth worth £75,000-a-week with the Gunners. It is believed that the deal will be completed today and the player will make his way to London for medicals at Arsenal.

Mustafi has a £42m release clause in his contract but are willing to accept £30m.Arsene Wenger has been pressed into action by an injury crisis in defence.

Per Mertesacker is out until the New Year with a knee injury, Gabriel will be absent for two months with an ankle problem while Laurent Koscielny has only just returned to training following his Euro 2016 exploits.

Arsenal will most probably have a makeshift centre-half pair in their Premier League opener – Nacho Monreal is likely to fill in at centre-back alongside Calum Chambers in the game against Liverpool on Sunday.

Wenger seem to be frustrated about the inflated nature of the transfer but has surely come to terms with reality.

He said: “We have to follow the prices paid by other people.

“That has gone up because the availability of money is much higher.”
