It is now five days to the close of this year’s summer transfer market.
We reported earlier in this month that Arsenal were plotting a shock swoop for Lyon’s attacker Rachid Ghezzal but reports according to Le10 Sports claims, we have not made any offers for the player.
Ghezzal is locked in contract battles with Lyon, as he is unwilling to put pen to paper on a new deal for Bruno Genesio’s side. He also recently opted out of a move to Everton, as the Merseyside outfit could not offer European football.
The above named source claim Arsenal were lining up the deadline day move for Ghezzal, should they fail to sign better candidates. However, Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Perez yesterday and that means we will not be signing another striker.
The Algerian international has yet to feature for Lyon this term and last season, he appeared only 29 times in the league for the French giants. But despite any of his appearances being hardly starts, he managed to bag eight goals and record the same number of assists. Impressive, so to speak.
Ghezzal’s move to Arsenal seems impossible, as is the case with most targets. It appears the 24-year old and his agent are just playing hardball with Lyon in order to get an improved contract.
