Keylor Navas has told Marco Asensio that he could be leaving Real Madrid this summer to join struggling Arsenal.
Arsenal are in dire need of a goalkeeper acquisition, with Petr Cech nearing the finale of his career. Although he has impressed in recent performances, David Ospina isn’t cut out to lead Arsenal. The Gunners have been in the hunt for quite a while, but they may have the found their Petr Cech replacement in Keylor Navas.
According to Don Balon, the Costa Rica international has been in talks with Marco Asensio, where he revealed his time at Los Blancos may be coming to an end.
While it’s good news that Arsenal are preparing for life after Cech, I don’t believe that Keylor Navas is the option they should be pursuing. Playing at the top level for Real Madrid, he’s bound to have learnt a thing or two, but it’s important to remember he’s just four years younger than Petr Cech, so he would be a short-term option.
Coming out of the January transfer window feeling good, it was revealed that Arsenal would be back in the summer to chase Jan Oblak. Jan Oblak would certainly be the better option out of the two, as he’s younger and has more time to grow under Jens Lehmann’s coaching.
