When news frittered in that Arsenal made a late loan move for Demba Ba but it was blocked by Mourinho, some fans took it with a pinch of salt. The revelation by Mourinho helped add credibility to the news but Ba’s admission now confirms it.
‘I was ready to go but it didn’t happen.’
‘The boss said it. I spoke to him before. I won’t tell you what we said. I told him I would keep fighting for the flag.’
‘It all depends on me.
‘If I play good the manager will put me on the pitch and if I don’t perform it will be only my fault.
‘I know I haven’t played as good as when at Newcasle or WHU but I needed time to settle and I keep working hard and I believe the rewards are behind the work.
‘If I would have performed as myself I would have played every game and if I didn’t play every game it is because I didn’t play good every game.
‘I am a good professional and I keep fighting for what I have.
‘Now the matter is the next months and the next years with Chelsea. That’s it.’
Interesting thoughts from Ba. Of course I expect him to show resilience and determination to fight for his place in the team but at what expense? Does he really think he is rated by the ‘Happy One’? If he was, he won’t have gone ahead with his open pursuit of Rooney and the acquisition of Eto’o.
Why does he think he has a future at Chelsea under Mourinho despite not playing in the last 3 matches (Bayern. Manchester United and Everton). He didn’t even make the bench in some.
Mourinho’s decision to block his loan switch to Arsenal was not borne out of his love for him. It was out of his desire not to strengthen a rival, a status Arsenal assumed the moment they signed Ozil. If Lukaku who is younger and can still afford a longer romance with the bench was granted a loan move to Everton, denying Ba who is older the same priviledge is nothing but wickedness.
Playing for Arsenal doesn’t in anyway jeopardize Chelsea’s chances after all Premier league regulations doesn’t allow a player who is on loan to play against his parent club. If Mourinho thinks refusing to allow Ba join Arsenal would prevent Arsenal from winning the title, he is in for a shocker. Not only does Arsenal and Wenger have money to spend, they now have Ozil who is an attractive influence, Suarez, Rooney and Lewandowski ( who is now back in the market after reports claim he has decided against joining Bayern ) are very much in our sights.
Keeping Ba is akin to shooting themselves in the leg. They can’t bring in another striker even if a top one is available. Dear Chelsea, keep Ba, we are fine with Lewy.
