Former Arsenal striker, Niall Quinn, has labeled new signing of Mesut Ozil as the new Dennis Bergkamp.
The German arrived on transfer deadline day in a £42.4 million deal that ended Arsenal’s frustrating summer on a high note. His arrival sparked scenes of jubilations around the Emirates and his impact is already being felt before he has even stepped on the pitch for the Gunners.
Quinn is equally excited at the new talent.
“I would compare him (Ozil) to Dennis Bergkamp.”
“He has the ability to develop the club and take them to a new level, he is at the park of his career.”
“Fair play to Arsenal, now they have gone, they have gone big.”
“Who has done the best piece of business this transfer business, there’s a big case for Arsene Wenger.”
“It’s a step in the right direction, Ozil will help attract other players of his calibre.”
Bergkamp’s impact at Arsenal was huge leading the club to two separate doubles aswell as being part of the legendary ‘Invincibles’ and remains a fans favourite to this day. Comparing him to Ozil puts a lot of pressure on the German and it remains to be seen whether he can be as successful.
