There has been many opinions on Arsenal’s purchase of Real Madrid’s Mesut Özil. Many have been positive with the Arsenal squad delighted with his arrival and Madrid’s player angry and upset at his departure. The Gunners faithful are equally happy at his signing and Damien Comolli has added his opinion on the transfer.
The ex Liverpool director of football believes Arsenal have managed to sign the German on the cheap despite the club breaking their transfer record to seal a £42.4 million deal.
“He’s a truly world-class player and when you look at the going rate at the moment, the Cavanis, the Bales, the Falcaos, he’s cheap.”
He believes Arsenal will benefit significantly from the German with his transfer being the biggest this summer.
“I think it’s the one signing of the summer that can make a massive difference. In a side that is already very good technically, he’s going to bring even more creativity and imagination and technique. I think he’s going to be a massive, massive signing for Arsenal.”
Özil’s addition is certainly a plus for Arsenal but it remains to be seen whether he can justify the huge price tag.
