After being heavily involved in the summer transfer window, Wenger now has the responsibility to ensuring that his core squad members commit their future to the club.
According to reports, Mesut Ozil has agreed to commit his future to Arsenal but on the condition that Arsene Wenger will remain at the helms of Arsenal’s affairs.
Ozil, 28, is in the final two-years of his contract but talks were reportedly stalled over his wage demands. He wants as much as £200,000 a week which it appears Arsenal don’t mind offering, per reports.
His cameos for Arsenal this season has left so much to be cheerful for. From being the king of assist, he was assisted to his first hatrick yesterday and he is not taking his legs off the turtle – this has seen fans called on Wenger to offer him demands.
.Last season, it took Ozil 18 games in the League to score 3 goals for the Gunners. This season, however, he has achieved the same feat in only 7 appearances. Thus, while his assists have dried out, Ozil is finding other ways to contribute to the Arsenal squad.
When Ozil made the move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, he revealed that Arsene Wenger’s presence at the emirates was a main reason why he decided to make the move. It is only logical that he would want to remain with a manager that believes in his ability.
I think Wenger is going to extend his contract by two years.
Arsenal must keep him as he has already proved himself to be a world class player.
