Arsene Wenger has been more busy than anticipated – after the signing of Cohen Bramall, the French tactician has now turned his attention to some of his unsettled players as he looks to get deals done for them.
Reports have indicated that Spanish youngster Jon Toral has returned to Arsenal after Wenger activated his recall option in the contract signed.
The Spaniard was sent on a season-long loan to Granada in the summer but has made just six appearances for the club.
Wenger seem unsatisfied with the pace of his development as he did better while on loan with Birmingham City last term.
However, Granada confirmed in a brief statement today that the midfielder has returned to the Emirates.
Arsenal Football Club has decided to activate the option they had in the winter to recover for discipline Jon Toral, who maintained a link with the Granada CF assignment.
In this way, the player ceases to belong to Granada from today and undertakes a new football challenge.
Granada CF wants to wish the best of luck to a player who always defended with absolute professionalism our shield and that was the creator of a beautiful goal against Osasuna in Copa del Rey this season.
Arsene Wenger remains a huge admirer of the midfielder and revealed earlier this week that the Gunners are ‘working’ with Scottish giants Rangers over a move for Toral.
Should Mark Warburton’s men fail to agree a deal for Toral, Wenger is happy to keep the midfielder and could form part of his first-team squad.
