If you believe reports from the German media, Arsenal have lost on on the opportunity to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Dortmund but Wenger has moved quickly to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich. According to the reports, it is only a matter of when and not if Gotze will become a Gunner.
The German world cup winner who is currentl representing Germany at the European Championship is said to be surplus to requirement at Bayern Munich after the Bavarians got Renato Sanchez from Benfica. He has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Dortmund but according to SPORTBILD, the player is not considering both clubs at all which gives Arsenal a good chance of getting him.
Reports claim the deal has been agreed in principle between Arsenal and Bayern Munich and all that is left is for Gotze to finish with the European Championship with Germany before personal terms is agreed. He reportedly currently earns £120,000 a week with Bayern Munich which shouldn’t be a problem for Arsenal after Wenger finally relaxed our rigid wage structure.
Should the report be true and we manage to sign Gotze, it will be one of the best deals of the summer. The former Dortmund star is certainly a good player and if he gets to play week in week out, he is certainly going to deliver. His signing will also mean we will see less and less of Theo Walcott in our first team next season.
