Reports from Italy claim that Juventus have been in touch with Carlo Ancelotti regarding taking over at the club.
This, of course, is a little exciting because Massimiliano Allegri has been linked with the Arsenal job and if Juve are looking for a replacement it means he is on his way, somewhere a least.
Could that be to Arsenal?
Without Champions League football it’s hard to be overly confident, but I’m not entirely sure lack of Champions League will be as big a blow to Arsenal’s search as some are claiming.
Anyway, Alessandro Alciato, a man who co-wrote Ancelotti’s autobiography, told Sky Sports, “Ancelotti has been sought out by many clubs, even if not with definitive offers.
“It’s a suggestive hypothesis regarding Juventus. It would be a return, it’s an idea. There’s an excellent relationship with [President Andrea] Agnelli, and a good relationship with the current directors.”
Speaking recently about the links with Arsenal, Allegri simply reaffirmed his happiness in Turin.
Reports in the UK press claim that Arsenal are now looking for a younger, less experienced head coach after failing to reach the Champions League.
It’s worth noting, as journalists ramble on about how important that competition is to landing a top manager, that Jose Mourinho agreed to take over at United when they were not in the Champions League, as did Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
