MATHIEU DEBUCHY has blasted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for stopping him from joining Manchester United in January.
Debuchy sealed a move to Saint-Etienne on a free transfer on deadline day when his contract at Arsenal was terminated.
It ended an injury hit three-and-a-half years at the Emirates for the France defender, who made just 29 appearances.
Two years ago, Debuchy was the subject of interest from Manchester United after failing to secure a regular first-team place.
A move didn’t materialise and he eventually joined Bordeaux on loan.
But when asked by French outlet RMC Sport about United’s interest, Debuchy revealed his frustration with Wenger.
He said: “I would have liked to have left Arsenal earlier and to have played for a different club.
“There were moments when I was angry with the manager.
“There was an approach from Manchester United and he did not want me to leave.”
