Arsenal have been handed an injury blow heading into this weekend’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The Gunners recovered from last Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat against Swansea City by securing an emphatic victory over Everton last weekend as they thrashed the Toffees 5-1, courtesy of an Aaron Ramsey hattrick and strikes from Laurent Koscielny and new signing Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
It was a delightful result for Arsene Wenger who saw his side close the gap on Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the race for a top four finish.
However, that result against Everton came at a cost with Petr Cech now set to be sidelined by an injury he suffered in the match.
The veteran shot-stopper was withdrawn for David Ospina in the second half of the game after suffering a calf injury.
And according to journalist Ben Dinnery, Cech is now unlikely to be included in the team for the north London derby due to his latest fitness concern.
Petr Cech is a major doubt for this weekends north London derby. The Arsenal goalkeeper is struggling to shake off the calf injury he sustained in a clash with Oumar Niasse at The Emirates during the 5-1 win over Everton. Nacho Monreal [illness] should be fine. #AFC
