Arsenal are on-course to be without the service of Mesut Ozil for their Premier League opening fixture against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
The North London club will host the Blues at the Emirates and now look to be without the midfielder following a recent knee injury which also saw the Germany international out on this weekend’s Premier League fixtures with the West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
A report from The Mirror has stated that Ozil is a serious doubt for Arsene Wenger’s team against Chelsea this weekend.
It will come as a huge loss with the player having been in superb form of late. He has scored four goals and five assists thus far in the Premier League and has silenced his critics that had previously questioned his ability against top sides.
The blues on the other hand will be heading into the clash against the Gunners with bundles of momentum following a victorious 5-0 victory over Stoke City this weekend.
Antonio Conte’s side have leapfrogged Manchester United into second place in the Premier League and have even taken a match out of Manchester City’s impressive lead at the top following Pep Guardiola’s side dropping point during the Citizens’ 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
