Arsenal dealt a transfer blow after RB Leipzig’s director of football Ralf Rangick insisted the club will not sell key player Emil Forsberg this summer.

The 25-year-old creative midfielder netted eight goals and created a whopping 22 assists last season as Leipzig sealed a commendable second-placed finish in the Bundesliga.

Having signed for £3.15m from Swedish side Malmo at the start of 2015, the reported transfer fee would present significant profit for Ralph Hasenhüttl to utilise on strengthening his squad.

We previously reported the news that Arsenal were apparently preparing a £20m bid to sign him this summer, whilst his agent Hasan Cetinkaya also hinted a move could be on the cards recently. Despite this though, Rangnick has remained adamant that Leipzig will not sell their top players even with Europe’s best sides lurking.

As quoted by German newspaper BILD he said, “We’re not thinking about selling our best players this summer. There’s no red line for us. We will keep our team and improve it in several positions.

His recent comments are a complete contrast to those from Cetinkaya, so when questioned about Forsberg’s agent, he said: “Those are Christmas wishes in the summer. We have twice adjusted the contract of Emil. We have twice already adjusted the contract of Emil.

They earned their first inclusion among Europe’s elite in next season’s UEFA Champions League and with speculation over Naby Keita’s future quashed last month too, it’s clear that they are keen to retain their best players and boost the squad to improve further with time.
