Arsenal have suffered a blow to their hopes of signing Yacine Adli from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to reports in France.
French outlet Le Parisien, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners had looked poised to complete a deal to bring the 17-year-old to The Emirates this summer.
However, it is now being claimed that a “top Spanish club” have also entered the race to sign the teenage wonderkid this summer and that has significantly hampered Arsenal’s hopes of signing him.
According to the same report, Real Madrid are thought to be interested in signing the teenager and that has scuppered Arsenal’s plans to quickly push through a deal.
The same story says that Arsenal were confident of winning the race to sign Adli this summer as Unai Emery looks for his first signing as Gunners boss.
The north London side are thought to be keen on signing a number of players this summer as they bid to build a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The Gunners ended up in sixth place in the Premier League and without a trophy before Arsene Wenger opted to step down at the end of the campaign.
