The Arsenal legend is backing Alexandre Lacazette to be a big success at The Emirates
Martin Keown believes Alexandre Lacazette is in the same mould as Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the France international regularly over the past two or three seasons.
Arsenal completed a club-record £52m deal to sign the 26-year-old striker from Ligue 1 side Lyon last month.
The north London side have signed Lacazette to complement Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez and attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil.
The France star scored 28 times in 31 games in Ligue 1 last season and left Lyon having scored 100 goals in 203 top-flight games.
Arsenal legend Keown is confident that Lacazette will prove a big success at the north London club, likening the new signing to club legend Henry.
“A goal machine,” Keown told the Daily Mail when asked about Lacazette.
“Wenger has always wanted a striker in the Thierry Henry mould and he may have found that player.
“He will need time to settle in but Wenger will give him all the support he can.”
Lacazette opened his Premier League account with a close-range header in the second minute in their season opener against Leicester.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to finish outside the Champions League qualifying spots.
The Gunners ended the season on a positive note with a 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
The north London side continued their excellent record at Wembley with a penalty shootout victory over the Blues in the Community Shield last weekend.
