Every Arsenal fan that is being taunted by rival club fans will tell you the reason they failed to secure any trophy last season was largely due to the number of injuries their player sustained in the course of last season.
Sadly, even before the opening of this season, Arsenal players have begun picking up injuries leaving Wenger with no choice than to bolster his squad from the defence to the attack.
Alexis Sanchez is already ruled out due to an injury he sustained during the Copa America, Welbeck has been out and will not be back until next year, and now Mertesacker has been banjaxed and will be out for up to six months.
All efforts to securing an attacker for Arsenal has been futile. However, Wenger has now turned his attention to a defender and the Metro is in the claim that Valencia will agree to sell Shkodran Mustafi for only 21 million pounds.
Wenger revealing the need for a centre back said:
“With Per being out, we are a bit short on the experience front and we are looking to bring somebody in…”
Arsenal have already opened talks with Valencia for the player and the deal is expected to be completed as soon as possible. Mustafi, 24, will no doubt add steel to the defense of Arsenal.
