Gary Neville changed the topic to football during Sky Sports Ashes coverage. The ex-England full-back joined Nasser Hussain in the commentary box where they discussed Arsenal’s main transfer target Luis Suarez.
Hussain, being an Arsenal fan, asked Neville if Arsene Wenger would be able to sign Suarez from Liverpool to which Gary replied.
“I don’t think you will. I don’t see how Liverpool could sell to Arsenal, to one of the competitors. I really don’t.”
He then changed the topic asking Nasser if he enjoyed watching Robin Van Persie playing for Manchester United after his summer switch from Arsenal, making his point of exactly why Liverpool shouldn’t sell to Arsenal.
Nasser’s response was to move the conversation back to the cricket, reaffirming the scoreline.
There is a similar situation occurring at Neville’s old club Manchester United with forward Wayne Rooney wanting to leave but the club refusing to sell to Chelsea, as they are rivals.
Both transfer sagas are different from the one that saw Van Persie leave for Old Trafford as both strikers still have several years left on their contracts while the Dutchman only had one, risking a free transfer is he didn’t get his wish of a move away.
