If reports coming from Uruguay are true, Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for their marquee striker signing for this summer as number one target Luiz Suarez is now very much ready to stay put at Liverpool and sign a new contract. Suarez had told Liverpool officials he would like to leave Liverpool for an opportunity to play for a club that is in the champions league but so far, Liverpool has rejected Arsenal’s bids as they claim they are not disposed to selling to a rival.
Although the Uruguayan went public with his desires to leave and even had to involve the Professional football players’ association in the impasse at a stage, he has finally agreed that Arsenal will not pay the 50 million pounds that would tempt Liverpool to sell and he is now ready to mend bridges with Liverpool. Just yesterday, it was reported that Suarez had told all media houses in Uruguay and his national team mates to stop talking about his intentions to leave Liverpool.
If the reports are true and Suarez has finally decided to stay at Liverpool, Arsenal may actually end the window with no marquee striker as there are now limited options and even much more limited time to get to other prospective signings.
