The Gunners have already seen a £30 million bid rejected by Liverpool for the striker and is considering an improved £40 million offer. Arsene Wenger is determined to land one of his main targets, with Gonzalo Higuain’s move going cold.
Suarez has grown unhappy with Liverpool’s standing in England, with the club missing out on European competition altogether with their 7th place finish last season. The attacker wants to play Champions League football and will get his wish at Arsenal. He also wants to be at a club that will challenge for the title and his arrival at Arsenal could do that.
The Gunners are eager to invest in their squad to improve on their 4th place finish last season and Suarez would be the marquee signing that staff, players and fans alike would all want to see.
Brenda Rodgers has insisted that Suarez will still be a Liverpool player come the start of next season and has even raised the asking price to £55 million in an attempt to ward off interest, however it is believed that the club would have to accept a lower offer is Suarez hands in a formal transfer request which he is now willing to do should Liverpool reject Arsenal’s next bid.
The striker is currently traveling to Australia to join up with the Liverpool squad for their pre-season tour but will have meetings with the club’s hierarchy before training with the players.
