ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly upping his attempts to sign Lucas Vazquez.
The Real Madrid forward has only made five La Liga starts this season and is growing frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities.
Arsenal look set to lose Alexis Sanchez this transfer window as they look to cash in on the Chilean, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Manchester City are weighing up the possibility of taking him to the Etihad Stadium.
And if the move pulls through then Wenger wants to have his contingency plan in place straight away.
The Frenchman apparently sees Vazquez as the direct replacement for Sanchez.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon he has stepped up his chase for the Spaniard.
Wenger is reportedly “willing to do anything” to take the 26-year-old to north London.
Don Balon add that the Arsenal boss admires Vazquez’s speed and agility.
It is also suggested that Vazquez would be open to a move to the Premier League.
That will give Arsenal fans some relief as they look set to lose a number of key stars.
German playmaker Mesut Ozil also looks highly likely to depart as his contract is up in the summer.
Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been linked with securing his signature.
