Arsenal have scored more goals than we have conceded in the League thus far – we have scored six and conceded five but it would have been seven goals scored if Walcott had buried the penalty we had against Liverpool in our Premier League opener. *Just Saying*
Arsenal thumped the Hornet 3-1 yesterday in a game in which we had a penalty. Arsenal deputy captain Santi Cazorla went up and got the penalty passed the goalkeeper of Watford.
The result of Walcott miss against Liverpool was that the fans of Arsenal were not satisfied with Walcott as the penalty taker and Wenger was quizzed about the same after the game yesterday.
Wenger admitted that Theo isn’t first choice to take spot-kicks. Or at least he wasn’t against Watford.
“Look, I name three penalty takers before every single game,” Wenger Insisted
“I did not take Theo completely out of it, because he was number two.”
Certainly, Wenger was coy about demoting Theo Walcott as the Penalty taker but he would come up to take penalties in game with Santi Cazorla or Mesut Ozil.
However, Wenger’s choice of words – “I did not take Theo completely out of it” – suggest that he has been moved down the list.
Theo’s performance against Watford wasn’t too bad. He was slightly wasteful but also pretty useful going forward. Hopefully, he can build up some momentum and get back to his best.
