It is the summer transfer window and several players will be linked. Some will be genuine interest while the others will be agents work. Saint- Etienne’s Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of them. The Gabonese forward have been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 club to a club with a higher profile, now
according to L’Equipe, his club Saint Ettiene are keen to part ways with him just as he is anxious to walk through their door.
Saint Ettiene have slapped a 15 million Euros price-tag on him. That fee is a modest one for the calibre of teams jostling for his signature. For a player of his talent, he is certainly worth that amount and could provide decent value for money. Last season, he bagged 19 goals and 14 assists in Ligue 1, he also helped the mid-table club win the French Cup.
Arsenal are in the hunt for a new versatile striker, the Gabonese forward might just be the perfect fit. He is quick, skillful and with a keen eye for goal. His versatility means he can replace Gervinho who is set for the Emirates exit. Arsenal have been linked with other high profile strikers; Rooney and Higuain but both of
them will want to pay as a center forward, a decision that might leave Arsenal short on the wings especially if Gervinho leaves but with Pierre-Emerick, Arsenal will have a goalscoring forward playing on the wings.
German side Bayer Leverkusen are one of the front-runners for his signature but they are understood to be baulking at Saint Ettiene’s demands. Anzi are also interested but it is believed the Gabonese will favour a move to the Premier League. Wenger’s newly got war-chest and the lure of the English league and Champions League football could see the Gunners’ pip other suitors to his services if they are truly interested.
