Report suggests Leicester city manager Claudio Ranieri is in the market shopping for a potential replacement for Arsenal target and England International Jamie Vardy. The potential replacement seems to be striker Ben Arfa.
It was reported earlier this month that Arsenal triggered the £20m release clause in Vardy’s contract at Leicester City.
According to Squawka, the player was offered a deal worth over £100,000-per-week by the Gunners, who expected the move to have been completed before the start of the on-going European championship.
The England striker could have signed a deal before flying with his National team to France for the summer tournament but has opted to delay his decision until after the European Championship.
The 29 year old Ben Arfa, has impressed for the Ligue 1 side since joining them following an underwhelming spell at Relegated side Newcastle.
The Algerian was involved in 23 goal last season, scoring 17 goals and registering 6 assists for the French outfit this season.
Following his impressive form, Ben Arfa was linked with a shock move to Spanish Champions Barcelona. But Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed the rumours aren’t true.
He told Sky Sports: “Ben Arfa is not an option for Barcelona.
“He was considered because he is available for free, but Barcelona has now said ‘no’ to that possibility.”
Leicester will have to battle Sevilla and Paris St-Germain, who are all monitoring his availability.
The news will gladden the heart of Arsenal faithful’s as this might open the doors for Vardy to join the Gunners.
