Mesut Ozil gave Arsenal fans a major boost on the eve of the new season with a defiant message on social media.
The Gunners playmaker missed Sunday’s Community Shield victory against Chelsea with an ankle injury, which at the time was described as a precautionary measure by Arsenal.
But Arsene Wenger then declared the German World Cup winner, along with Aaron Ramsey, was a doubt for the Premier League opener against Leicester on Friday night.
“I have plenty of uncertainties about the players who didn’t play against Chelsea,” said the Arsenal boss. “For example Ramsey, Ozil, Mertesacker.
“And of course Koscielny is suspended.”
With Alexis Sanchez already ruled out with an abdominal injury, Arsenal faced going into the first game of the new season with their two biggest names missing.
But Ozil calmed the nerves of all Gunners fans on Thursday when he took to social media.
Posting a picture of himself in training, the former Real Madrid man said: “Back in full training after recovering from my ankle injury.”
Meanwhile Ozil has hailed the arrival of Jens Lehmann on Arsene Wenger’s coaching staff.
“I think he’ll take us further through his experience, through his personality,” he said.
