This season started poorly for Arsenal but the team seem to be steadily finding their rhythm with impressive performances in the last two games.
Arsenal new boy Lucas Perez was on song for Arsenal yesterday as we thumped Nottingham Forest 4-0 in the EFL Cup. Perez, scored two goals for the Gunners.
The Spaniard hit a brace in the second half for Arsenal to extend the lead by 3-0 after a screamer from Granit Xhaka.
He then turned provider late on, assisting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury-time strike to round off a comfortable win at the City Ground.
At the post match conference, Wenger was expressly impressed with the strikers performance on his second start for the Gunners this term.
Wenger claims the goals scored by Perez will help him gain more confidence ahead of subsequent games.
“Of course, a striker is always growing when he scores goals and I felt that he has shown tonight,” said the Arsenal boss.
“I liked his second goal because it was not only technique but it was determination, to fight for the ball and finish.
“I liked as well the part he played in the goal of Oxlade-Chamberlain because it shows that he can combine with other people and that he is an intelligent player.”
Arsenal will host Chelsea in the Premier League this Saturday, it is left to be seen if Perez will be handed another start.
