Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has lent his voice to Arsenal’s injury and transfer window dilema stating that the club must sign like two defenders to be able to compete with their rivals.
Despite Wenger’s submission that he is on the search for a striker and defender, the Emirates Landlords have been unable to add another first team signing since they signed Granit Xhaka earlier in the summer.
Arsenal have been linked to a host of players in the market but are increasingly finding it difficult to snap a deal for any of their targets.
Per Mertesacker is set to be sidelined for a number of months after undergoing knee surgery and Henry wants to see The Gunners move quickly to bring in some defensive reinforcements.
“I still think we need a defender – maybe even two,” Henry told Sky Sports News HQ.
“We don’t know how Rob Holding is going to turn out to be, Calum Chambers might turn out to be the one. Who knows?”
Arsenal begins their Premier league campaign this Sunday with a game against Tottenham. If a centre back is not signed, the Gunners will be without any experienced centre back.
