Latest Team News – Ramsey & Coquelin To Miss Swansea Game, Perez Fit

The selection headache for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expected to be worse with the return of player who have been sidelined with injuries – however this is a good problem for the manager.

Arsenal have been handed a massive boost with the return of midfielder Aaron Ramsey to training. Nonetheless, the Wales international will likely not be fit when we host Swansea. But his teammate Lucas Perez will be fit enough to start, per reports.

Ramsey has been out of action due to a hamstring injury he sustained in our Premier League opener against Swansea while Perez had a slight knee problem in during training.

When he does return he’ll likely have a battle on his hands to reclaim his place in the first team, with Granit Xhaka, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin all vying for a spot at the base of midfield.

Perez will definitely be on the bench behind high-flying Alexis Sanchez in the frontline of Attack.

Coquelin might well be available for Saturday’s game after recovering from a knee injury he sustained in the Gunners’ 3-0 over Chelsea last month.

He’s back in training as well and could make a bid to reclaim his spot in the starting XI.

With the current form of the team, who have won five games consectively, Wenger will not be cowed into rushing his players back to aid their total recovery.

We have a fairly soft schedule over the next couple of weeks, including ties with Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Reading in the EFL Cup, so the Wenger could choose to delay Ramsey’s re-integration with the team.
