Arsenal fans were left to fret over the extent of Laurent Koscielny’s head injury after a fierce kick to the face forced the French defender off in the first half of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Fenerbahce.
Pierre Webo’s boot to the face saw the French defender writhing around in agony with blood pouring just above his eye. The Arsenal medical team signaled to Arsene Wenger to make the change and Koscielny went straight down the tunnel.
He was eventually sent to hospital to undergo a scan on his skull with a suspected fractured skull after his deep cut wouldn’t stop bleeding. Reports during the game had expected the worse for Koscielny but Olivier Giroud ending the worry when he uploaded a photo on Instagram showing himself with Koscielny on the plane home with the following tagline.
‘Some news from Lolo… He’s ok no worries HE WILL BE BAAACK #french warrior #kung-fu #stitches.’
The picture showed Koscielny smiling with a bloody and bruised right eye along with the stitches he needed. The fact he was allowed to travel back and is smiling shows it is not as serious as first thought. His suspension against Fulham will give him a week to recover before Tuesday’s second-leg
