French striker Karim Benzema is in the news again. The Frenchman has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons. He hasn’t been scoring for both club and country until he broke his international drought in Les Bleus 6-0 win over Australia. Reports have had it that he has been offered to Arsenal for a cut price of 20 million Pounds so as to fund a move for Monaco’s Colombian striker Radamael Falcao. The Frenchman has come out fighting by declaring that he would fight for his Real future.
“I’ve had ten good days for France because there were a lot of eyes on me. I’m coming through the toughest period in my career, but I’ve always believed in myself. I’ve never given up, and I never will give up,” he said.
Interesting thoughts for Benzema but I must confess, he has a huge battle to fight as it seems Perez has already set sights on the Columbian. Can he persuade Real to ditch their pursuit of Falcao? He has a lot to do then.
It is obvious he doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid. His agent declared he would stay put in the summer and now Benzema is sending a strong signal to the Madrid men that he wants to stay and fight for his place in the team. It stands to be seen if he will battle Falcao for a place in the team or he would leave to pave the way for the arrival of the former Athletico Madrid man.
Benzema has said his bit, what is Real Madrid’s position? Should a bid in the region of Real Madrid’s valuation be made, that is when the world would know if he is valued at the Bernabeu or not.
He has scored 91 goals in 193 appearances for Madrid.
