According to a report via the Independent claims, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of taking James Rodriguez on loan this January having contacted Real Madrid over a possible deal.
Rodriguez nearing the end of a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich – is a target for the Gunners ahead of next Thursday’s deadline.
Rodriguez has spent the last 18 months on loan at Bayern Munich and his future beyond the summer is uncertain, as he has struggled to hold down a spot this season.
And Arsenal could take advantage and take over the loan deal for the remainder of the campaign, at a cost of £3million.
Bayern paid £11.5m for the two-year loan and have the option to buy Rodriguez for £39.5m this summer.
Emery’s interest in Rodriguez, comes amid speculations that he is willing to sanction Mesut Ozil’s exit this month.
Ozil has fallen out of favour this season under Emery and was left out of the Gunners’ squad for Saturday’s loss to West Ham.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have announced transfer king pin Sven Mislintat will be leaving after the transfer window.
A statement from the club read: “Sven Mislintat, our Head of Recruitment, will be leaving us on February 8, 2019.
“Sven has been with us since December 1, 2017 and has done a truly outstanding job in helping us recruit players who are making a big impact now and will do so even more in the future.
