The Gunners midfielder is on his way back from the broken leg he suffered while playing on loan at Bournemouth
With all the talk at the Emirates this summer surrounding possible incomings, the future of an Arsenal favourite seems to have been forgotten.
Jack Wilshere has just once year left on his contract in north London and so far there have been no suggestions that an extension is close to being signed.
The England midfielder has just returned from this honeymoon having got married earlier this month and is still working is way back to full fitness following the broken leg he suffered towards the end of his loan spell with Bournemouth last season.
And he has taken to social media to give everyone at Arsenal a reminder that he is working hard to return to peak condition with the start of pre-season training now under a week away.
Wilshere posted a video on Instagram of his workout from a gym – although judging by his reaction at the end he may not yet to be at 100 per cent.
Speaking about the 25-year-old midfielder, Gunners legend Martin Keown believes he will get a new deal at the Emirates.
“We know Jack is a special talent,” said Keown. “His injuries have marred his career. It must be tough for Arsene Wenger to watch. How many times has he broken ankles and had operations?
“His quality isn’t in doubt, it’s his health that’s the issue. There are some big decisions to be made but I would feel he is someone Wenger would try to keep. Somebody that he will try to support.
“They certainly will offer him a new contract.”
