Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has finally kick-started his career at Liverpool following years of stagnation under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. The 24-year-old was at the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s side which beat Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate to take Liverpool to the Champions League semi-finals. Oxlade-Chamberlain scored arguably the goal of the tie with his piledriver in the first leg at Anfield and is being touted as England’s answer in central midfield ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
This season, the midfielder is already one goal away from his best ever tally at Arsenal and Jack Wilshere has trolled his former team-mate over his poor record in north London. ‘How many have you got for England? Six goals? Mate, that’s more than you got for Arsenal!’ Wilshere joked during a quiz between the two for FATV.
Earlier this month, Jurgen Klopp revealed that Oxlade-Chamberlain refused to blame Wenger for a lack of improvement at Arsenal. Asked about the Englishman’s form since joining Liverpool, Klopp replied: ‘That’s all because of his potential, because of his quality. ‘We had a lot of talks and Oxlade loved Arsene Wenger.
