The rumours mills are spinning again this morning with reports linking Galatasaray and former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini to the Arsenal job. Mancini whose side were dumbed out of the Champions League by Chelsea, left Manchester City after three years with the club during which he orchestrated that memorable title win over Manchester United in the dying seconds, is believed to want a return to the English Premier League.
Wenger who is believed to have agreed a deal in principle with the club to extend his stay, is yet to officially commit to the Emirate outfit. With some section of the fans calling for Wenger’s head following a devastating showing against Chelsea at the Stamford bridge, it is believed that Wenger could be considering his position at Arsenal.
PSG have been on the chase of Arsene Wenger and could land their man should the long serving coach decide to quit the Emirates. The French national team is also thought to be eyeing Wenger as it gears up for Euro 2016. The report claimed that Mancini is be considered to take over from Wenger and club legend Patrick Viera also brought in to assist him.
Personally, I think that is no truth to this story as I am a fir believer in the fact that Arsene would stay on that the club. In the event that I am wrong and he decides to leave, I don’t even see Mancini’s name being mentioned on the list of 20 to replace Wenger. The Italian is a great coach don’t get me wrong, his works with Sampdoria and Inter Milan are testimonies to this fact. The scarf wearing one just isn’t an Arsenal type coach. It is that simple. Wenger has stated categorically that he would have no input in the selection of this successor but I bet even he could kick against a Mancini at the Emirates. The mental picture isn’t even pretty.
