If reports in the Italian media are anything to go by, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has set his sights on signing Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic as the replacement for ageing Mikel Arteta. The 19 year old midfielder only just joined Inter Milan but if the reports coming from Italy are anything to go by, Wenger believes he has a chance of signing the young Croatian who has been likened to former Tottenham player Lukas Modric.
It is been reported that Wenger feels Arteta only has 2-3 more years left in him and he will like Mateo Kovacic to be a long term replacement for the Spanish and he is ready to make his move now before other clubs with more money than Arsenal come in for him.
Mateo Kovacic is ideally a deep lying playmaker ( like Pirlo and Arteta himself ) but he is versatile enough to be able to play virtually all roles in the midfield. He has represented Croatia at all age grade levels and currently has 5 senior caps for the Croatia national team.
