Aaron Ramsey has declared he will be fit for Arsenal’s clash with Southampton despite struggling with a hamstring problem. Ramsey fit to face the Saints The midfielder has been a revelation for the Gunners this season but was forced to miss Wales’ clash against Finland at the weekend with a hamstring problem. Wales boss Chris Coleman had suggested a flu bug that had swept through the Arsenal camp was the reason Ramsey missed the 1-1 draw but the midfielder claimed otherwise on Twitter.
“Gutted to miss the game yesterday, my hamstring was tight after training. Medical staff didn’t want to risk me, will be fine for next weekend,”.
Either way, Arsene Wenger will be a relieved man Ramsey has declared himself fit for the visit of the Saints on Saturday. It is good that he has declared himself ready for the weekend battle but we cannot take chances, he needs to be accessed by Arsenal’s medical team. Hamstring could be a minor concern but it could also turn to a major one like in Podolski’s case. At this stage of the season, we cannot afford any other injury situation. Ramsey has been on fire for Arsenal this season having already notched 11 goals in all competitions for the Gunners. Wenger will loathe him been out no matter how short it might be.
It is good news that he sat out the friendlies, might not have been the best news for Wales but certainly a great one for Arsenal. At least it avails him the opportunity to rest well as he has played many matches already this season for club and country and surely deserves a breather. Thanks to tight hamstring, he got it.
