Bordeaux winger Malcom admits he wanted to leave the French club in the January transfer window following interest from Arsenal and Tottenham. The Gunners were in talks with Bordeaux over a deal for the Brazilian winger, although the Ligue 1 side were holding out for a £45 million transfer fee. Malcom reportedly rejected a contract offer from Arsenal, while reports in Brazilian claimed that the 20-year-old had spoken to Mauricio Pochettino about joining Spurs. ‘I wanted to leave, I tell the truth,’ Malcom said to Telefoot.
‘It’s my dream to progress in my career. ‘I spoke with the president [Stephane Martin], he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me. ‘I told him he could count on me until the end [of the season]. ‘I will do everything to bring Bordeaux to the top six in Ligue 1.’
