Few weeks ago news went round that Arsenal had bid for SC Freiburg’s Matthias Ginter. It was believed back then that Arsenal sent Francis Coquelin to Freiburg in order to smoothen the Ginter deal.
Although SC Freiburg immediately rejected these rumours, with an official statement issued dismissing all rumours of a move away from the club by Ginter. Ginter himself has now come forward to deny any possibility of a move away from the German club. The young star, who is capable of playing as a central defensive midfielder, as well as a centre back, said, “I have been in Freiburg for eight years. I came through all the youth teams and feel really good. There is also no reason at all to switch to another club this summer. I can say 100 percent that I will stay at Freiburg.
“There’s nothing to it, I do not know where this information comes from. I even read that I should have been in London for a medical check. This is complete nonsense,” Eurosport reported.
Arséne Wenger’s inability to sign the youngster wouldn’t amount to much if Arsenal signs Luiz Gustavo, who they have been to linked heavily over the past week. Although Arsenal need cover in the centre of their defense, signing Gustavo will however be a double edge sword for the gunners as Gustavo can play as DM and as well as CB.
Arsenal are expected to sign the Brazilian later this week, with the Bayern Munich man currently away on national duty, with Brazil. Brazil travel to Switzerland for their friendly.
