Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom is hoping his impressive performance on loan will earn him one final chance at Arsenal.
The youngster who turns 23 in October has been an almost forgotten story at Arsenal with a combination of awfully timed injuries and unsuccessful loan moves looking to have halted his development.
The attacker who made his Arsenal debut in 2013 made just one first team appearance this season as he fell behind exciting young striker Eddie Nketiah in the pecking order.
However, Akpom was sent out on a six-month loan to Belgian side Sint-Truiden in January which was to represent his final chance as his contract expires next summer but he seems to have found a new lease to life, scoring six goals in his last eight games, consequently resurrecting his chances of a breakthrough at Arsenal next season.
The player’s talent is undoubted, with his blistering pace and trickery making him a nuisance for defenders.
But the goals have always been the problem during his loan spells and in all fairness, his previous loan moves has been to clubs who play a different pattern to the one he was developed with at Arsenal. And he has proven just that with an impressive goal tally in Sint-Truiden who play a similar pattern to the Gunners.
Harry Kane was in a similar position at Spurs before he made his breakthrough and has become one of the World’s best strikers.
Chuba Akpom could fit in on the left flank if he is considered by the next manager, with the left flank his only realistic option as Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are far above his level at center forward.
