Former Porto and Zenit striker Hulk admits he still dreams of a potential move to Arsenal, despite earning an eye-watering £320,000-a-week with Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG.
The 30-year-old, famed for his explosive shooting power and muscular physique, moved to China almost exactly a year ago and is currently the fifth best paid player in world football.
Hulk, who last represented Brazil at the 2016 Copa America, has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, primarily to Chelsea, revealed he would still consider a move to England, although Arsenal would be his preferred destination.
“It’s always been a dream, it’s a very competitive championship and the stadiums are full in every game, no matter what the team, I always follow the league and I have always supported Arsenal,’ he told Sport TV.
‘[I’m a fan of] Wenger’s way of playing, but unfortunately he has not won trophies in recent years.’
Hulk is currently under contract for a further three years in Shanghai but insists a move back to a major European league is not out of the question.
‘The city is very good, the club has a great culture and gives a lot of support. I have a contract for four years and have three left.
‘I am very happy, but nothing is impossible, especially in football.’
Arsenal are likely to be in the market for a versatile forward in the summer given the precarious nature of Alexis Sanchez’s contract predicament.
The 28-year-old, who scored his 22nd and 23rd Premier League goals of the season in Tuesday’s win over Sunderland, has just over a year remaining on his current deal and is being targeted by the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Arsene Wenger insists his star man will remain at the club, regardless of whether or not he signs a new deal in the summer, but the Chile international is said to have already decided a move to Bayern is his preferred option.
